And Cork taxi men are kicking up about licences

The same taxi driver also told me, and I am hopefully getting this correct as I was tired and emotional at the time, that the Govt is threatening their livlihood with the lowering of the cost of the licence plate and the increase of ongoing costs.

He also told me that Kathy Sinnott had raised a question in the EU about it.

So I check and find he was telling the truth. See here.

So I am inclined to believe the guy. This is atrocious behaviour. Imagine if they tried this on with the publicans or bookies. They are just trying to get extra funding into the coffers and picking on the wee man. I am really annoyed that the govt would do this.

He also made another worrying allegation/assertion that the taxi men in Dublin are keeping too quiet and he reckons tat there has been some sort of side deal going on.

Any taxi drivers out there care to comment?

definitely no "side deal" with Dublin taxe men/women going on. It is ridiculous the way the ruling class are substituting Irish people with immigrants but that is what happens when the locals show no resistance, keep quiet, and keep supporting capitalist party's. We should never, repeat never, blame the immigrants, rather we should look to ourselves to see whats wrong.

Why are you so silent about the costs of the licence being reduced and the costs every year going up - surely that is going to hurt. By the way have you seen the www.sustainabletravel.ie document? Expensive times ahead.

    Are you in a union?

Why can't they bring in a city knowledge test like they did in London? Taxi drivers who don't know their way around are a nuisance for the customer.

Yes, most such drivers seem to be non-Irish. (not all non-Irish are like that).
