I accept you point but if you look at Ryanair's financial statements as a means of getting a true picture of performance then this is not relevant. Contractor costs are included in their overall operating expenditure and this provides for a direct comparison against AL.
I think Galileo's point is that when O'Leary compares the number of employees between the two companies and thus claims that Ryanair are flying more passengers with fewer staff, he's actually misleading people - maybe they're doing it with fewer COMPANY staff, but in terms of actual staff used, when you take out long-haul, and compare like with like, there's not actually a whole lot in it.
