Heavy words are so lightly thrown.
To be honest I wouldn't chance the ones in Busáras; they're downstairs and too out of view. The one time I did I was accosted by a scanger wanting money.Originally Posted by Chuck E Arla
Its more of a cultural concern that an economic one. There was a time, not so long ago, we hardly ever had to pay to use toilets here and now we do to an increasing extent. I'm more concerned about the loss of convenience than the loss of money.Originally Posted by LTGuy
I prefer to pay 30c - but to have higienic, clean facility. However, I understand some people prefer seedy, smelly hole-in-the-floor type if it is FREE. Oh, yes, almost forgot: save the penny - get the pound.Originally Posted by Chuck E Arla

Why should paying for it automatically make it better quality? Often the free ones are perfectly fine.Originally Posted by LTGuy
Paying to use dem bloody toilets in Heuston is bad enough, but it's even worse when you go to use 'em (and you really really really need to use 'em) and they're closed for cleaning!!! Worse still, there's not a bloody bush for miles around
Customer care and Iarnroid Eireann are totally alien concepts my friends...

Should we have to pay for all cleaning and maintenance every time we enter any building? Maybe pay a euro at the door every time we enter a shop or office, otherwise let them get dirty? Maybe we could pay for the heating and electricity too by paying an extra charge at the door each and every time we set foot in a place.
Of course toilets need proper cleaning and maintenance, but I think it would be easily affordable and more convenient for the businesses/ public buildings to pay from it from their own earnings/taxes rather than have this annoying pay per use system.
Thought Heuston toilets were fine last time there. 30p not a lot for the facility, If attending the restaurant or bar, the toilets are free, or were when ergo last there.
Never heard that pubs are under a legal obligation to let you use their toilets.
It is an obvious fact that if toilet does not pay for it self - no one really cares if it is clean enough. The reasoning is the following - what additional cleaning will change ? added cost and no benefit. that is why all over the WORLD free facilities usually make one puke at least because of smell.
If it is paid for - then you have reasonable chance that it is maintained.
And please, citizens of one of the richest states in the world - wake up! What are you talking about? 30c? I had better opinion of you...
