And why is it not in the correct forum? I've moved it to Transport.
Heavy words are so lightly thrown.
I propose you start two new forums (and no I won't say fora), one titled "Yay! More rubbish about Ahern" and another called "Shannon: Discussion, debate, facts, misinformation and other stories". Would save us all a lot of grief.
A poster of some consequence...
So much for all the crap that it was a great profitable route if no one is taking it on.
It doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't profitable, just that with limited resources like slots at Heathrow, it's possible to use them more profitably.

Does anyone know how feasible it would be for Ryanair to sell their Aer Lingus shares, and use the money to buy a slot or two at Heathrow?
And having done so, would they have any chance of making back their money flying out of Shannon?
What a coup that would be!
If there is a future, it will be Green.
Don't think there are any up for sale. And its not Ryanair's business to fly to main airports.Originally Posted by QuizMaster

You can't legally buy and sell slots. You can lease them and there are ways round it where you put the slots into a subsidiary company and then sell that company. Even then, nobody is selling Heathrow slots at the moment.
Ryanair doesn't really need to sell its Aer Lingus shareholding anyway. It's sitting on a big pile of cash at the moment, so it could easily use that.
