'Within weeks'? How many weeks? 3? 10? 100?

They do not measure in weeks.

Usually you get told a quantity of months.

Followed by words like "time frame", "if all goes according to plan" and "ball park".....

CIE are involved, and their own timetables are highly optimistic.

What a disgraceful waste of money. RTE are quoting over E50m having been spent on this.

Anyone part of the trial run ? Will it be as good as London's Oyster or Boston's Charlie Cards ? Will it be easy to top up ? How long will credits stay on card ? This is particularly important to infrequent users of transport.

Integrated ticketing? In Dublin? Very nice. All we need now is an integrated public transport system.

Or maybe they just fancied the idea of having us all integrate with each other as we wait for hours at the bus stop?

was reading in the london evening standard a few weeks ago that they reckon they'll be getting rid of the oyster card soon enough and people will instead pay by 'waving' their bank card (at some sort of scanner i imagine)

In the future this will be done by smartphones equipped with near-field communication as New Jersey currently does. One would sincerely hope that the system about to be installed is compatible with this approach. However that would be the triumph of hope over experience.

Ok. I can't "like" this because that would be in bad taste. But it is funny.
