Announcement just made on NT that they are to cease the sailing and a liquidator is to be appointed. Will the ship now be moved into dry dock or will it be left to sit on the cork quay side.

On the news bulletin they mentioned a large number of job losses but I thought the hotel staff on board we're all contracted in from easterne europe rather than direct employees of fastnet line.

Cork-Swansea ferry line to close - RT News

It got the chop alright. Its a shame, it could of worked with the right business model. The ship will probably end up being tied up in Falmouth grave yard until they have a buyer. The crew on the ship were as far as I know are Dobson Fleet Management employees. Dobsons themselves have run into a number of problems and lost a few contracts so were likely to go under in the coming months anyway. Dobsons lost the ICG contract a couple of weeks ago. The 78 jobs lost is a blow though. Maybe this will give another company a leg into France from Cork now. There is a huge lack of capacity to the continent from Ireland

I don't think it will leave Cork until a buyer is secured. Wouldn't surprise me at all if it ended up tied up at Cork Dockyard, or even anchored at east ferry like the Butter Boats years ago.In any event, it won't be going anywhere till it pays its bill to the Port of cork for taking up space since november. They'll be very keen to see payment now the company Is wound up.
