Should DAA takeover Cork and Shannon?

It is reported that the Min for Transport has commissioned yet another report on the management of the main State airport Varadkar orders study to help decide on airport ownership - Irish, Business - Independent.ie
This comes apparently against news that " the airport authorities have told Mr Varadkar they do not want to see Cork and Shannon airports separated from Dublin."
How things have changed, as previously they were all keen to detach from the DAA. Is it reasonable to assume that they will now either have to detach and assume their debts or be fully absorbed into the DAA?

Cork airport should be independent, but should be expanded. I don't have the data, but there are too many people from muster going to dublin for flights that they should get from cork.

I'm not aware that Cork Airport is capacity constrained, I think it's just that the airlines are only providing limited services.

Why not develop Shannon which has far more potential, and leave Cork as is?

Given the prices charged by the respective airports airlines will choose Dublin due to greater catchment area. For an airport of its size & facilities Cork has too few flights - options are limited outside of UK cities.

The DAA runs all 3 airports with a decided bias towards Dublin airport. What the hell do you mean to be fully absorbed into the DAA?

This is not the view of the Minister who's reported to say
"The present half-way house arrangement, in place since 2004, whereby Cork and Shannon have their own boards but have limited autonomy from the Dublin Airport Authority, cannot continue indefinitely"
"Nor can the situation continue whereby losses at Cork and Shannon are absorbed by the remaining profitable parts of the DAA Group."

So in what way is the DAA biased to Dublin?

Have good read at what you just wrote there. The DAA stands for Dublin Airport Authority. Limited to the decisions of the DAA, Shannon nor Cork can make a move or spend a penny unless the DAA authorises it!

The half way house he is talking about is the boards that were set up by the ff losers to put their pals on the gravy train and be monitored by the DAA in Dublin.

Neither Cork nor Shannon can order toilet paper unless they get the go ahead from the DAA.

So are you hoping that the report will recommend total independence for the 3 airports? This is not what the airports are reported to want; "the airport authorities have told Mr Varadkar they do not want to see Cork and Shannon airports separated from Dublin."
