I don't think this complaint by Air France will go anywhere. The bottom line is whether the same deal (at French regional airports) would be available to other carriers. I don't see why that wouldn't be the case. If it's the case that there aren't any other carriers able to benefit from the same deal, is not Ryanair's or the airports' faults.

Business’s make money whatever way they can in competition with each other.

Our very own Ryanair have beaten the socks off Air France and on French territory!!

We should be proud of Michael not knocking him and reverting to the usual old Irish begrudgery!!

Have to admire the spin/deception that kept it under wraps for so long though.
AF/KLM are taking ryr to court in an action filed in Brussels

Ironic when one thinks about all the blustering bombast over the years.
Strip out all the, what is effectively, state aid and it is massively lossmaking
    Quelle Surprise!!
    Hang on a minute.

Governments all over europe provide funding to attract all types of companies to locate in particular areas. What do you think the IDA and Enterprise Ireland do ? They give money to companies, with a particular focus on attracting companies to areas they would never otherwise conside. ! Call it state aid if you like, but most people will see it as a fairly good idea, so long as the company hangs around to make the states investment worthwhile.

How many multinationals do you think Ireland would have if we didn't make it "attractive" to them ?

So if its ok to give finding to build a manufacturing plant, why isn't it ok for states to incentivise the use of regional airports, providing employment in areas where otherwise there would be none?

    Well said.

The question is if the law has been broken. It would be good journalism to quote the relevant law, including relevant precedents.

Anyone know what the law is?

It strikes me that this practice puts an internationally focused business in the regions at an advantage to its counterpart in Paris.

Imagine that the government were to offer free stretch-limo transport to and from the main pub in Clara, Co Offaly. It strikes me that other midlands pubs might consider this to be an unfair competitive advantage to Clara. Commercial rents in Clara are currently probably quite low compared to Grafton St. So if Clara shops could be certain of a good flow of customers getting to them, they could sell the kind of merchandise available in Brown Thomas at a fraction of the price, and still make a fat profit.
When you see the words "Mises" or "Hayek" in someone's post, just ask yourself: do I really want to ban paper money and go back to gold?

You have to pity the kind of people who buy into conspiracy theories. I find the following to be the saddest words on the internet: "Re: connection between Bilderberg puppet lady gaga and viral outbreak in ukraine "

Well, in the same way that the unemployed "profit" by €124 a week.

Ryanair and The Sunday Independent having a barney ? It's a bit like Man Utd. v Liverpool --you'd wish it was feasible for both of them could lose.

Correct. Can you imagine the nasal whine if proper airlines adopted his modus operandi?

Well we've seen what over staffing does in Aer Lingus and British Airways.

Nobody forces anybody to fly Ryanair.

Given the choice, most people are flying with Ryanair.
