Primetime last night made further revelations regarding Irish Ferries on both their employment practices and safety issues:

The key issue of safety shows how Irish Ferries operate unsafe practices in that the staff on board do not in the main speak English and it was one of the main findings of the investigation into the Baltic sea disaster in the early 90's that a contributory factor to the toll was that the staff did not share a common language nor could they communicate to passengers in an emergency. When the IF spokesperson was challenged on this he just passed the buck to the contractor who was staffing the vessels!

On employment Primetime revealed internal company emails instructing managers to employ Poles or Latvians for any work and not to under any circumstances employ "any local labour". It also revealed how the remaining 48 Irish staff were effectively forced out of the company since the ending of the dispute to the point where there are currently only 4 remaining.
