Ridiculous and counter-productive. People should be encouraged to use public transport at peak times and not penalised for it.

Rubbish, the saving or expense of 10c will not encourage or discourage anybody from using the Luas at anytime. Why do opposition politicians of the calibre of Olivia Mitchell feel obliged to crow about absolutely every issue that presents itself infront of them.Originally Posted by Munion
this is fcking disgraceful... can they do what they want? is there no fares regulator for Veolia? If we had a Dublin Transport Authority, this type of wanton profiteering would not occur. Brilliant thread title by the way KK. It is nothing more than congestion charging... this is what should only happen to car drivers. People are being punished for having 9-5 jobs and using public transport. Another fcking fiasco during Cullens "watch"... does he have a clue what's going on.
People should have their fares discounted, not increased, for using LUAS and Public Transprt regularly. 10c per journey, that's €1 per week. So a €50 annual fine for having a normal hours job, or for getting to school and college on time... genius. Thats presuming they don't increase it again in June
We need to radically change every system that has enabled the wholesale destruction of the Irish landscape, rural and urban. There is no time for incremental step by step measures. The systems have failed utterly and the only hope for a real recovery requires the rule book to be torn up completely.
Coz every fcking issue that arises in relation to Transport in the Dublin Region is another fcking fiasco pushing more people into their cars away from more sustainable modes. That's why!! Are you blind? We have a complete cabbage as Minister appointed by a Gombeen electioneer.Originally Posted by Biffo

It's not just the 10c. Read my post on the Transport forum about the PD 2002 manifesto. Thats why people "crow" about every issue. Your shower are negligent to the point of criminal in relation to the development of this city. Oh for an Opposition of any talent whatsoever.
I hope the Greens clear up in the Dublin region this year...

Biffo, your right it won't make a blind bit of difference to how people use the LUAS, it is simple profiteering. And it is the LUAS operators who have said "it is designed to alleviate rush hour congestion by encouraging people to use the service at different times."Originally Posted by Biffo
The people who are using the service at those hours of the morning are going to work not to get their nails done or visit their bookies.

This is a joke, what are people suppose to do, start work at 10am? The fare is already too high in my opinion.
Typical, there's a decent public transport facility but they find some way to ruin it for the people.
