I'd say his race is run, no more ministerial stuff.
I can't see him running to be honest, and if he does, I can't see him being elected.

Wont be missed, did absolutely nothing for Sligo/Nt Leitrim,he resigned the party whip with his fellow gombeen Scanlon on the Cancer issue when it was too late
to have any impact. Both have contnued to support the Government faithfully in the Dail after their futile gesture since.

I think people in Sligo all saw through that token gesture.

Scanlon and Dedvins resigning tne whip but still voting for FF to cut social welfare, blind pensions etc must be the most cynical exercise ever, trying to have it both ways. Mice not men
You'd think Kenny committed Treason and brought in IMF. Cowen had all in stitches in Galway at 3.30a.m.but he was "not impaired" -DD Power. FF=Publican páirtí an IMF.

Any news as to when the various political parties are holding their selection conventions. As the country further declines down the tubes following the NAMA debacle, surely its inevitable a general election will be called soon.

As things stand now, what way to people think the seats would go?

One for FG and FF is pretty much guaranteed in my opinion. Is there a possibility, with transfers behind them, that either a SF,Labour or indo could take the 3rd seat?

Right now I would think that McLoughlin,Perry and either McSharry or Scanlon would be the 3 elected. So in other words 2 FG and 1 FF.

Surely there would be a strong enough transfer rate between 'Town' candidates to see one of them elected? Meaning that one of either McLoughlin (if nominated) O'Keefe (she will surely be the Lab candidate after they pushed her into the limelight with the Euros) and possibly Declan Bree. If Bree polls well enough on No.1's (especially without McManus in the field) he is well placed to garner transfers from all over the place. The next election could yet be a good one for Indos. I would reckon it might well be between the 2nd FG candidate and Bree for a seat.

Is there any possibility of both FF seats being at risk with the hospital/cancer care issue locally on top of the general toxicity of the FF label?

From what I hear, Imelda Henry is not seeking the FG nonimation. As far as I am aware she is concentrating on Seanad elections.

Problem with FG in Sligo is they have a poor front bench man, Perry. He is no good, only mediocre and a poor performer.
