“Good government is no substitute for self-government”
- Mahatma Gandhi
Sadly, you are spot on. Ireland now is the same as in this picture.
.
The only thing different is that the scars are visible in the picture. But beyond 90% of the new building façades, there is untold misery. This penury could have been avoided. But our civil war parties only could recognise the enemy when he carried a gun or maybe a club with horns coming out of their skulls. The International Banking Buccaneers in pin-stripped suits have laid pillage to the land while our great political parties were in their customary civil war slumber.

One is absolutely gob-smacked that the massive transfer of wealth via Securitisation of mortgages etc out of this country to the aging EU is receiving so little attention. It is presently at least €4billion (€4,000,000,000) annually; equivalent to a yearly levy on each of our 547,000 houses (tsb/ESRI) of €7,312 for c.20 years. This was achieved by the stealth tactics of commission based International Financial Buccaneers (IFB); facilitated by new laws introduced by the EU and Leinster House. Remember this transfer is separate from the repayment of government debt and is separate from money involved when we become net contributors to the EU in 2013. It seldom if ever will make headlines, because only the financiers know about it. Now that I am highlighting it; the silence from the rest of the establishment is deafening! The bigger the mortgage, the larger the Securitisation deals; the more commission was received. Our Politicians were codded up to their eyeballs! This money does not come back to hospitals, welfare, Gardai, education or spending in local pubs, restaurants, shops etc. Permission for this massive external transfer was never given by the citizens of Ireland. Would any politician like to defend what is happening? Proper Vehicle

Doubt it,the vote in Sligo/NtLeitrim is still more or less split on Civil War lines. The FF'ers were unlucky not to take a seat here at the last GE.The Blueshirts are certain to lose here next time, which if the reports of the anger amongst them over Gilmore's decision not to reopen the "Holy Sea"embassy, could be sooner than we expect.
I didn't think when I started the thread below that it would be over 2 years for it conclude, things must be speeding up at the 4 Goldmines...

Wonder Woman, returned to the airwaves this morning,on Ocean FM,spouting rubbish and waffle about next weekends Labour conference in Galway. She also had the hard neck to defend Labours role in the implmatation of the programme of austerity and cutbacks, which has brought this country to it's knees. If the disgust and anger which I encounter everyday,as to how useless our local Oireachteas members are, translates in to something positive, hopefully,is by ordinary people voting NO to the Fiscal Treaty.
Anyone know anything about the planned constituency changes? Something in the observer last week about changing Leitrim back to reunited constituency, no longer divided? How would this work in FG's favour if they change it back to the way it was?
I heard, though it's not confirmed, that in order to reunite Leitrim, that the whole of counties Sligo,Roscommon,Leitrim, and possibly a large portion of south Donegal may be joined together to form a six seat constituency. The mind boggles as to the implications of this on the various parties, though,I suspect,FF wouldn't be too put out at the prospect.
