Seems that Perry is once again backing the wrong horse in a FG leadership contest:
Won't do him any favours when it comes to the next election, given his biggest threat may prove to be from within FG.Perry criticises frontbenchers over opposition to Kenny
Sligo North Leitrim Fine Gael TD John Perry has criticised his colleagues who yesterday publicly declared they had no confidence in leader Enda Kenny.
Yesterday nine of the parties frontbench, lead by Roscomnmon Deputy Denis Naughten told media outside Leinster House that they were supporting Richard Brutons leadership challenge.
As both sides of the divide lobby for support ahead of a crucial parliamentary vote tomorrow morning, local Deputy John Perry has reiterated his support for Enda Kenny.
Criticising the nine who spoke out against the current leader yesterday, he said the public will recognise the contribution or lack of that they have given to country.
I noticed Perry (who boasted a very green tie) jumped down a bench yesterday at the motion of confidence immediately to Kenny's back. One would wonder whether he shall be making a return to the front benches. However he's the type of fella that would take sides with Bruton if he offered him a better one. Mr.Bruton is wise in his decision not to.
Anybody interested in keeping the thread going now that the Labour selection mereting is tomorrow night ?

You are right I fear. I doubt Cawley or O'Keefe will have a chance, and SF certainly don't, they'll be lucky to poll over 2,500 votes IMO. 2 FG and Scalon to retain his seat for FF, sad, sad situation if that's the result. Todays selection convention should be interesting for Labour, the big talking point of the next GE here.
labour wont pick up a seat in the constituency without divine intervention or some miracle, perry should retain his seat though
