The problem with SF is they are are immigrant friendly, traveller friendly, gay friendly but don't have any policies that favour the ordinary man who is working hard earning reasonable money and paying a big mortgage.
If they talk honestly about their immigration policies while they are canvassing they will not hold their existing seats.

Sinn Féin doesn't have an open doors immigration policy so I'm not sure why any of us who use politics.ie should bother commenting on it, or engaging with someone who is either ignorant or a troll.

As for Eddie's comments, Sinn Féin is the only party arguing for a redistributative tax system that would move the tax burden from working class voters to business and the wealthy to benefit raise funds to benefit those people reliant on social services. It suggests quite a stunted political development to believe that one cannot support the rights of minorities like travellers, homosexuals and immigrants, while not backing workers.

I just don't believe that playing the race card to win votes is anything to be proud of.

Statements like this are easily made and talk is cheap. What people need to know is what will SF actually do. If an executive is formed in N.I. in November and S.F. are in a position of power, will they press for Romanians and Bulgarians to be allowed into N.I., when they are not being allowed into the rest of the U.K.?

I have been informed that SF canvassing on immigration shows 80% in Dublin want tighter controls. They obviously put ideology before electability, which is why they are failing in the polls.

Imagine, a party that runs on a platform it believes in, rather than on what it thinks might be popular. How unspeakably cynical!

It could ditch socialism just as fast as it ditched republicanism.
