No - Mary Lou will not become a Senator - There would be a by-election in which members of the Oireachtas can vote - therefore FF would get a new senator

i think they are pushing for the election as they believe they have a chance at the seat and are somewhat desperate for some electoral success in the South

Thank God the count wont be held in the RDS... Gerry's used to his party being defeated there, it could be 3 in a row and he might not be able to take it.

If there was to be an election in Donegal South West soon, Doherty would stand a good chance. He's the most high-profile possible candidate in the constituency.

What's the deal with FF not wanting to have the election on the same day as the Lisbon II referendum? Aside from anything else, is it not more cost effective to have the two on the one day?
