My feelings of contempt for SF refusal to condemn these murderers and the 3 unfortunate FARC "tourists" I won´t elaborate on here.
They can never hope to get anywhere as a legitimate party unless they start calling a spade a spade or a murderer a murderer.
I would take FG [& FF & LP] more seriously on condemnation of violence if they were prepared to take a stance against the instigators of the worst mass murder in the history of this state. Unfortunately they did the opposite; gave in to State Terrorism and wasted even more taxpayers' money in collaborating with their continuing terrorism. Shame!

Don't forget Labour and Fine Gael, because EVERY Irish party has a violent past somewhere along the line. Ireland has a violent history, so many people forgot about the FF role in republicanism as the voted them in again and again, SF were still involved because they are the only party up North and down South, they are still under British rule and FF could be on their merry way and forget about those left, unwillingly, with the English.
The Irish are a strange breed of people, we choose to remember and forget certain parts of history to fit their own ideals.

If this line is to be drawn surely it must apply equally, either investigate all cases through some sort of Truth and Reconciliation Commission, exposing those responsible for either sanctioning or participating in the events that led to the deaths of so many or else really consign these events to the past, allowing future historians judge the rights and wrongs of the actions of those involved.

They need to come out and condemn the killing. It had nothing to do with a United Ireland, it was murder, plain and simple.

However, I do think that there is no reason why the killers should be still in jail if so many others were let out thanks to the GFA? As painful and sickening as it would be to the McCabes family, there are plenty of other families who had to endure the same pain of seeing their loved ones killers walk free. No one can imagine his widows pain and I truly feel for her, but I cant accept special treatment for some for political point scoring and not for others.
If I could mass-sterilise the planet, I would. Seriously.

The Gerry McCabe killing has become a stick to beat up Sinn Fein. I wonder if his family find all the politically-motivated crocodile tears offensive ?
Perhaps we could have some condemnation-swaps : SF condem Pearse McCauley, FF Frank Aiken and FG Richard Mulcahy - there's probably a good case that all three have committed murder (Mulcahy probably qualifies as a mass murderer).

But maybe that would be putting a Government on the same footing as a murder gang.*

Michael Collins was probably the most ruthless man this country ever produced and yet Fine Gael leaders continue to pay homage to him.
