Sinn Féin lacking migrant candidates for local elections

Sinn Féin is actively seeking immigrant candidates to represent the party in the upcoming local elections, according to a party representative.

For all their support for liberal, unrestricted (mass) immigration and inane political correctness, foreigners aren't interested in Sinn Féin or its nationalism. Instead they are flocking to Fine Gael, the Ulster Unionists and Fianna Fáil(!). On the other hand, formerly enthusiastic working class Irish workers are now supporting the Blueshirts, mainly.

Now: what is the lesson to be learned here?? How does it feel to be on 9% nationally when immediately after the last local elections Sinn Féín were on about 13-14% in late 2004. Five years and support has fallen to (a recent high) of 9%. Perhaps Sinn Féin should have been more unambiguous about immigration and its effects on Irish worker job displacement??

Sinn Feins core voters, the working class, have been affected worst by mass immigration. Obviously they have become disillusioned with the party and its policies.

The party’s equality spokesman Aengus Ó Snod-aigh TD claimed the party’s method of “not going out and pinpointing people” to contest elections has backfired.
Ó Snodaigh admitted the situation was “disappointing” for a party that posits itself as immigrant-friendly and all-inclusive.
He denied that Sinn Féin’s support in working class areas, where immigrants tend to be viewed in more negative terms, was a factor.

I thought that the whole idea was to put your policies before the people and if so attracted then people would want to join the party.

The idea of going out and targetting a group of people by skin colour simply as a means of proving some sort of watery, mealy mouthed credentials is repulsive.

Sinn Fein is dominated by culturally conservative Irish republican socialists who are obsessed with creating a united Ireland with ethnic Irish Catholic Gaelic speakers in the ascendency and their party mythology is dominated by the rantings of early twentieth century nationalists whose crackpot ideas about the Irish race and the Gaelic revival were not too dissimilar or far removed from the ideas of their right wing contemporaries in Weimer Germany who were fixated on the Aryan race.
No suprise that migrants are attracted to less ideological mainstream whatever-your-having-yourself established middle class parties.
