From reading other threads there does seem to be an increase in candidates in areas that were only previously contested by one or two party activists and they seem to profiling people in areas that they had not contested before.

The EU election may/will be used to give FF a bloody nose. If the SF EU candidates have half decent campaigns then the LE candidates will benefit by default. That certainly happened in Dublin last time around.

I expect the provies to lose a lot of the seats they now have. I think all parties that have the whif of corruption about them will do very badly.

All they have to do is keep improving their first preferences.

if they cannot gain from the much predicted FF bloody nose, then they will need to do a lot of navel gazing on where they are going (or not as the case may be)
Enda Kenny on FF government: “We’re in this mess, not because Fianna Fáil policies have failed, but because they have succeeded.”

Sinn Féin have increased their vote and vote share in each and every like for like election in the 26 counties since the 1980s. The only party to have done so.

I would expect them to make substantial gains in the locals. The conditions were never better and they seem to be working hard on the ground locally.....
