Good to see the Irish Times is up to date, Eire Nua was dropped as a policy document in 1982 at the Sinn Fein Ard Fheis.
Glad to see you're up to date. Éire Nua was readopted in 1988.

I'm very up to date Risteard it was dropped in 1982 by Sinn Fein, later to be adopted by RSF in 1988 as it was the political baby of Dáithí Ó Conaill and Ruairí Ó Brádaigh.

In other words it was readopted by Sinn Féin at An Ard-Fheis of 1988.

Yes , thrown out along with the republican bathwater it seems . Do you believe it to be a sop to unionism Padraig , a document for softy compromisers ? That was the line at the time I believe .

If I remember rightly it was dropped because Gerry called it a "sop to unionists" . This is the same Gerry who accepts British rule , Stormont partition , unionist veto , doing away with political status , SURRENDERING ALL THE GEAR BECAUSE BRITS AND UNIONISTS DEMANDED IT , and wearing poppies and crack like yon .

Amazing that all this was actually the strategy Eire Nua , that dastardly sop to unionism , was dumped in 82 to make way for .
Eire Nua was referred to as a sop to Unionists at the Ard Fheis by not by Gerry Adams, and it was the Delegates at the Ard Fheis that voted to drop the policy as it was deemed as un-workable.

I Believed then and still do that the popualtion of Ireland is too Small to be able to afford a federal system based on the four provinces, we may end up with a federal solution based on north/south in the future, but that decision is up to the Irish people to decide, not Sinn Fein or any other party.

Padraig , your a better revisionist historian than Ruth Dudley . Of course it was Adams himself who said it . He actually said it was a sop to loyalism . Youll be telling me next Richard MacAuley was Brownie .

So British rule is more workable than Eire Nua ? Do you believe that . ( Bearing mind the other day you believed you could speak your mind in Sinn Fein , the day before Francie Molloy got turfed out

Listen, as far as SF is concerned, Eire Nua is off the agenda. Now, there is by no means unanimity in the party over whether or not that is a good thing, but it is the reality. I think we need to set about forming a radical document for a new Ireland in the near future. Gerry's last book showed a vision of the future Ireland, but we need it as a policy document, and we need to put it in place as a policy document. However, that is a matter for the party's internal dialogue.

RSF's masturbatory devotion to Éire Nua is all well and good, but what are they doing to implement it?

As for the Francie incident, he wasn't turfed out, but he was suspended, pending investigation. Francie has every right to disagree with the leadership, but to do it on the radio was a ************************ up on his part. I hope he is let back into the party very shortly.
