SF/IRA link to Dublin double cocaine murders

It has emerged tonight from sources close to Minister for Justice Michael Mc Dowell that there is a link between Sinn Fein/IRA and the brutal murders of cocaine dealers in Dublin last night.

The Minister has been informed that a relative of one of the murdered men, apparently the husband of a second cousin of one, was observed by Gardai 3 years ago in a South Dublin pub, loudly shouting "Oh Ah up the 'RA", a clear indication of support for the Provisional Movement.

At the time the man claimed that he was participating in the chorus of the so called "Celtic Symphony". It was however apparent according to the Minister that it was highly unlikely a person of this nature had any notion of what a symphony was, never mind classical music of any other nature.

Mr. Dowell has expressed the belief that this is further indication of the insidious nature of the Provisional Movement and their lack of respect for the laws of this state.

In a follow up statement, Dublin City Councillor, and aspirant FF nominee, Cllr. Gary Keegan re-iterated the beliefs of Mr. Mc Dowell, claiming that he is the only member of DCC who is fighting the Sinn Fein Cocaine problem, and when elected he will fight for an extradition treaty between Colombia and Crumlin, so that the Colombians can deal with those who disrespect their countries largest export.

Anyways, enough of the nonsense. I just want someone, anyone to answer a few questions for me.

Today I called into "The Last Word" with a comment. Something I usually steer clear off. I try to keep my rantings to internet fora (yes, fora is the plural of forum).

    Why ?

Because in the discussion relating to the double shooting in Dublin last night, Minister for Justice, Michael Mc Dowell was "unavailable to answer questions about gangland killings in Dublin".

Now this is the man who will make himself available to every single media outlet when he has a comment to make about the Republican, oh sorry, we're not Republicans, the Provisional Movement, but suddenly he goes to ground when he has to deal with an issue of justice in the 26 counties. That is, when he actually has to do his job.

There have been 17 "gangland" killings in Ireland this year. 17!!! Seventeen.

I challenge those who have read this far to name 5 of this 17.

    What about 3 ?

    1 even ?

Be honest, how many can name even one ?

Seventeen men killed in gangland murders in the 26 counties. On Mc Dowell's watch. In the jurisdiction where he has the competence for protecting the people of the 26 counties ?

Can anyone name a man killed outside a pub in Belfast in January ?

Has anyone ever heard Mr. Mc Dowell talk about that killing ?

What competence has Michael Mc Dowell in dealing with justice in that killing ?

Why do we know the name of one man that died, and by the way, I hope justice prevails in that case, but we do not know the names of the 17 men killed in the 26 counties ?

Which brings me onto a wider question.

I know politically people either love or hate Mr. Mc Dowell. But can everyone try to be neutral for a minute, and analyse the job that he has done so far as Minister for Justice.

    What has he achieved ?

What major legislative reforms of the Criminal Justice system have been enacted by the Minister ?

What major legislative reforms of the Civil Justice system have been enacted by the Minister ?

What major reforms of the Judiciary have been brought forward by the Minister ?

What major reforms of the Gardai have been brought forward by the Minister ?

What extra security measures have been implemented by the Minister ?

What actions have been taken to deal with corruption within the Gardai have been taken by the Minister ?

What actions have been taken to deal with miscarriages of Justice while the Minister was in office, or while he was the Attorney General ?

Why were compensation payments in cases like the Mc Brearty's made in private, with confidentiality clauses forbidding the reporting of settlements, despite the fact that these settlements came from the public purse ?

Why has there been no discilplinary action taken against Gardai who lied in relation to the death of a 14 boy in a Garda station in Clonmel ?

In total..... What has Michael mc Dowell actually done in three years as Minister ?

The man who came to Government promising probity, clarity, accountability and transparency, in my opinion, is a waffler.

He is the Minister for Bull************************ing.

Thats my case, anyone like to make a case for the defence.

(Oh, about the thread title, I just wanted to let some posters know what it felt like to have instantaneous orgasm)

Nah smiffy, that was just a bonus. I'm just a bit peed off with Mick, and haven't had time to get on earlier.

Actually, I've decided to reach out the hand of friendship to Barry. I want to make him feel loved.

Ever since I found out his mates in YFG won't give a portfolio to show off his talents, I think our Barry needs our support

Not particularly. This thread is about the incompetence of Michael Mc Dowell. Please address this point. If you wish to start another thread, by all means do, and I will address your point

I'm not all that sure where all this is getting us.

I seem to remember that back in the eighties An Phoblacht would run an article highlighting stories where members & ex members of the (British) security forces had got themselves in trouble with the law - usually while off duty & back home in the UK. The stories would range from murder to domestic violence to petty theft. Presumably some poor bugger on the AP/RN staff had the job of scouring regional UK papers looking for this stuff.

The purpose was clear enough - to show what thugs the Brits really were & how unfortunate Northern Nationalists were in having to come into contact with them - & by implication how justified the IRA campaign was.

Now, the exercie was simply a propaganda one. If you're determined enough you'll find your fair share of crimes amongst any given group (even politics.ie posters). Where your group is male, working class & young you're going to get more & jucier stories.

There's a bit of this in the Deep Throat Approach. Of course you'll find people with IRA connections getting themselves into trouble with the law. But so what? You'll find people with connections to everything else from freemasonary to the teaching profession doing so as well.

As for Trefor's points, we still run stories like that in the Fifth Column, the current incarnation of the An Phoblacht satirical column previously known as the Flying Column and Burke at the Back. There is a certain member of the An Phoblacht editorial team who delights in stories of Brit soldiers getting up to shenanigans such as murder, gang rape, drug dealinig and extortion. Curiously enough, he's actually English himself and comes across these stories simply by virtue of being a Guardian reader.

He's also the same chap who cannot stop referring to Sammy Wilson's nudist experience, ruining many a Thursday morning coffee while reading the paper for me.

    Example:
    Oliver's army
A BRITISH SOLDIER who kicked a drunken man about the head in what was described by a judge as a "cowardly" attack in Belfast has been jailed for four years — but it's not clear if he will be allowed to remain as a serving soldier.

Sentencing Royal Fusilier Oliver Devoti last Friday, Judge Tom Burgess said it gave him no pleasure in sending him to prison but was obliged "to send a clear signal to others not to behave in this manner".

Devoti, who was stationed at Palace Barracks, Hollywood, County Down, pleaded guilty to a charge of grievous bodily harm after getting into a drunken fight last October.

Belfast Crown Court heard that Devoti had been walking down Belfast High Street after a night out with two friends when a drunken man allegedly shouted abuse at him "for being English". Rejecting pleas from his friends to ignore the drunk, the professional combat soldier set about him, punching him and felling him to the ground before going on to kick him about the head.

The court heard that the squaddie then walked away but then "turned on his heel" and returned to kick his victim in the head a further two times, causing a blood clot on his brain, fractures to his back and ribs, and other cuts and bruises.

Judge Burgess told Devoti that, despite "provocation" from the injured party, the fact that the soldier had returned to kick the man as he lay unconscious on the ground was "a dangerous act and a cowardly act" that could have led to more serious charges.
