A joint chiefs of staff meeting has been convened in the Pentagon as we speak on foot of this.

Seemed like quite a decent turn out in Belfast given that London only had 2000 people at their demo.![]()
This is all well and good, but it would be much better if the leadership refused to meet the war-mongering b@stard.

That was my point, that this is all well and good but of little consolation when the leadership are so pally with him.Originally Posted by Rocky

A hypocritical stand. Your boss was shaking hands with them in Stormont while you were picketing in central Belfast. have you no self-respect? You're like the Greens, trying to play both sides.
You are right Podolski, the situation is like the Greens, but in both cases there is a very genuine dilemmas. In SF there are many good activists genuinely committed to this kind of anti-imperialism and it is not that their gestures are insincere, but that they are cancelled out by the actions of the leadership. The same with the Greens in many policy areas. Criticising these double standards is perfectly valid, I just think it's important to be mindful that the real tragedy in both SF and the Greens is the amount of genuine activists whose good work is being undermined by leadership shenanigans.Originally Posted by Podolski
