    Adams rejects Presidency bid

Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams has ruled himself out of the running for the presidency.

Asked if he would consider taking over from Mary McAleese in 2012, Mr Adams said that he had no interest in the post. "There is a life outside politics. No, under no circumstances," he said.

There has been long running speculation Sinn Fein was gearing up for an ambitious plan to put Mr Adams forward for the presidency.

    WHEW!

They are well resourced and quite capable of mounting a presidential campaign, but I doubt Adams could win it. Plus I'm not sure they'd be able to get him nominated - although a lot depends on their upcoming local election performance I think.

Did you ever think, that the only eejits who listened or much less worried, about such long running speculation, were those outside SF.....

Any SF member with a whit of political knowledge knew this was never a runner.

But, then again, given its yourself who started the thread Apparatchik, I'm just surprised that it isn't in some way, Enda Kennys fault

Pity you guys have no-one left behind bars. You've a good record at getting jailbirds elected.
