What a surprise. Terrorists never change their spots. That the scum have seats in the Irish parliament is a national disgrace. It's funny that the EUSSR threatened sanctions against Austria when Haider was in government. Did Haider have a private army? How many innocent civilians did his party kill? Of course, the fact that the IRA are a left wing party and Haider was on the Right had nothing to do with it...

It's hard to fit Liberalism on the left-right scale. It's certainly not on the left but it shares some social views with leftwingers. .

Social views are an irrelevance in terms of left-right. That refers to economics.

I'd tend to agree with you there actually. I see the scale as two-fold however. Economically speaking I'd put Liberals on the right. Have you read David Caute's attempts to define left and right? Quite interesting.

You should try and track down his book The Left In Europe Since 1789 because I can't find much online. It is out of print but I got a copy on Ebay for £1.99. It's a really good book with some very nice pictures of the 1848 revolutions and old propaganda and stuff. His argument is a bit difficult to condense and as it is enriches by his examples I wouldn't really be doing it any favours.
