Ógra Shinn Féin Organise Basque Solidarity Protest in Dubli

Ógra Shinn Féin held a demonstration outside the GPO in Dublin Saturday last in solidarity with the people of the Basque country, especially the leaders of Batasuna and SEGI, who have been recently arrested and sentenced to irrational jail terms, by the Spanish authorities. In response to this Ógra Shinn Féin working with the Dublin Basque committee mobilised onto the streets of Dublin to bring the issue to the public.

There was a political protest about the sentences imposed by the independent judiciary of a democratic state?

Can anyone tell me why ÓSF supports the Basque move AWAY from the Spanish yet reinforced the 'union' with part of Ireland and the UK?

SEGI and Batasuna want to work towards a peaceful develoment of independence. They are very similar to where we were in 1997.

Oh of course because states that hold elections every few years have never abused their power or done something which is wrong. How silly of us.

These people have been imprisoned for peaceful political activity, these are the people working for peace in the Basque country and the entire project is being killed by Spain's unwillingness to engage with those who represent the majority of Basques.

Yes I agree the behaviour of the Spanish government is enough to make you sick, the spirit of Franco is alive and well.

The murder of an elected town council leader by the Facist scum of ETA was certainly enough to make me sick.
