Are Ogra SF seriously calling for public or worker ownership of the means of production and a planned economy?

We call for nationalisation of and more democratic control in some parts of industry. Redressing the imbalance of power and developing a fair distribution of wealth. This is part and parcel with the idea of national sovreignty and the ownership of ireland being in the hands of the people of irleand.

Were not marxists but marx didnt invent socialism, he contributed to it.

What industries and why nationalise them?

Ones that are strategically important I assume.

If you are to nationalise any business or industry, it's important that those running the business are not appointed because they're Bertie's friends but because they're capable of doing an effective job.

Peole in publically owned Indusries are rarely appointed because of their qualifications, the problem with them is it relies on people like Bertie to do that.

Tom Joad calls for "nationalisation of and more democratic control in some parts of industry". What does this mean specifically? Sounds a lot like teenage posturing on Socialism. If it helps you get the girls, well and good, but it truly reeks of equine defecation.

    Strategically important?
What the hell is that supposed to mean? We don't have a military industry? I assume you mean the commanding heights. So a tiny minority can hold the rest of the country to ransom because they don't like how things are run. You call that socialism, I call that thuggery.

************************ up retard. I'm talking about industries that are strategically important to an island nation. Energy, communications, transport and the like. Eircom hasn't been a story of success ever since it has been privatised and any industry or business which is depended on by large sections of the economy should be run for the benefit of the economy as a whole, not just for the shareholders.

The commanding heights? What the hell are you raving about?

    Get a grip.

    No need to get abusive.
Commanding heights; Lenin's term for the heavy and capital intensive industries. God what kind of socialist are you?

What country are you living in?
The privatisation of Eircom has been a success. Phone calls cost a pittance compared to the old days and people have freedom to choose their service provider. But yeah its been a terrible failure...
