SF calls for disbandment of Garda Special Branch

    Monday August 27 2007

Sinn Fein is calling for the disbandment of the Garda Special Branch in a new set of proposals relating to the policing in the Republic.

The party says all Special Branch members should be re-trained and re-deployed to other policing duties.

Its submission to the Garda Policing Plan also calls for the establishment of an all-Ireland police force and a doubling in the amount of money spent on the Drugs Unit.

Announcing the proposals today, Sinn Fein TD Aengus O'Snodaigh said the end of IRA activities meant there was no longer any need for the Special Branch.

Did you ever hear such a pile of boll*x in your life??

In other news, turkeys call for end to "barbaric ritual" of traditional christmas dinner, Liverpool FC call for disbandment of MUFC, and dirt calls for abolition of brushes.

Well as we speak members of the Special Branch are hunting down six men in relation to a plot to down an Irish Airliner.

Should be a big story in the next few days.

Is this proposal motivated by issues regarding their work, productivity, ethics etc, or just because back in the day, they arrested loads of Provos?
