'Slan abhaile' to the Brits in Omagh - ÓSF style!

Great to see the Brits are finally pulling out of Omagh Brit Camp:

Fair play to West Tyrone ÓSF for highlighting the demilitarisation issue for so long, brilliant way of bringing a successful campaign to an end.

The British Army have withdrawn from Omagh Brit Camp and the Brit MOD are handing over the land at the end of July. Should this not be welcomed or celebrated?

    Would you rather they stayed?

No one is under the illusion that the Brits have not gone away - demilitarisation is only part of a process to freedom and if you read the statement it says very clearly,

"As we bid Slán abahile to the British Army in Omagh we are reminded that the British presence in Ireland is still here and we will strive to remove the remaining British military presence from Ireland like we have done in Omagh.”

Of course the peace process played a huge role, but the peace process would have not gained the momentum if it hadn't been for the local campaigns like this which popularised the demand for a peace process and what dividends it would bring.

I say well done and 'Slan abhaile!'

What are you blabbering about Active !!! How will you strive to get rid of the rest will you ask them nicely ???

1 soldier or a 1000 its all the same maybe you and the rest of the robinson fun bunch in OSF should read up on Thatchers vision of how she wanted the 6 counties controlled

She wanted precisely what your hailing as a victory Normalisation a dilution of military presence thus turning the 6 into a police issue rendering all Republican claims that it was a war as futile

Go ahead and use unionist terminology if you want fisk, but I will hail 'Demilitarisation' as a sucess, and will continue to strive for freedom.

So do you not welcome the Brit Army withrawal from Omagh and the land being freed up for the local community?

So tell me your master plan? Will the Brits all just suddenly pack up someday and leave? If so - how? Im all ears!

BTW - 'I still hate Thatcher!'

    What Unionist Terminology ????

And dont be so immature masterplan !! No one person has a masterplan on achieving Irish Unity but I know hailing an actual Brit policy as a step or victory on the road to a united Ireland is pathetic

And tell me how are SF or OSF striving for Irish Freedom

Would it be by condemning other Republican groups ??

By signing up to a Brit controlled police force ??

By copperfastening British Rule in the GFA ??

By signing away political status or is that not important now that you deem the war over ???

Im all for freeing up land etc but listen to yourself who are your masters think about it for once instead of talking rubbish and quoting stupid slogans of a tee shirt you probably own

I welcome a military withdrawal, I just won't be lauding it as a "success" for anyone considering they only left because the IRA had been stood down. They can come back tomorrow if anything untoward happens, but in the meantime they have Republicans supporting their police in a United Kingdom province that remains under British control.
