Ógra Shinn Féin launch new National Website

The republican youth movement Ógra Shinn Féin have launched a new national website. The website is in addition to the growing number of platforms that Ógra have opened up in the past year, including their blogspot, local websites, Glor na nÓg and Spark.

As well as keeping activists and supporters updated of daily republican youth news and views, the website will be used to recruit new members, and inform people of upcoming events.

National Organiser of Ógra Shinn Féin, Barry McColgan said,

"Rollo May once wrote, 'Communication leads to community, that is, to understanding, intimacy and mutual valuing.' and through the new website and the increased communication it will bring, we wish to create a tighter sense of community between Ógra activists and supporters."

"With increased recruitment and activity in the past year we have launched this new website in order to improve communication. This is an excellent start to the website, but it will of course be added to in the time ahead."

"Ógra Shinn Féin has opened up this new website due to the increased use of the blogspot which now has hundreds of visitors everyday viewing the daily updated news, opinion pieces and events notices."

"The internet is the future of communication and we wish to use the website to ensure improved cohesion in Ógra Shinn Féin, and to promote the uncensored voice of republican youth."

You can view the website at http://www.osf.ie/

I thought the site was very good. I liked the graffiti type logo, very good. As a bi-gay man and Sinn Fein member I know that Ogra have been great in some areas of the country supporting LGBT people who are under attack but not so good in others. Ogra does need to engage with the wider youth of Ireland including the younger migrants. Good job though.

Agreed that Sinn Féin must always support the LGBT community 100% as well as migrants. An Ireland of Equals isn't just about economic equality, its also about cherishing people equally regardless of their sexual orientation, gender, race, age or religion.

The site is excellent. However I would like to see a broadening out of osme of the issues they campaign on.... e.g. more campaigning on poverty in Africa - surely the biggest human issue on the planet today?

Just one other point. Where is the Gaelige? I was moaning at FG about this. Ogra need to take the lead. There are enough speakers to translate the site.

    Comically bad.
Do you support the 32CSM? All of Ireland think you are murdering scum, worse than paedophile priests.
History is harsh on those who support the murder of children in the street.

That's very unfair. It's a decent enough site lads, with a nice, simple design. Fair play....

    Neat looking site.

Needless to say I disagree with most of the content, but hey!

One thing though. Surely you are trying to show a professional face that can garner respect and get rid of the "brainless young 'ra brigade" image that some see you as. May I suggest you don't have a picture of your National Organiser wearing a "I Still Hate Thatcher" t-shirt with what looks like two guns being held up in the air. It's a tad immature for a leading member of your party to be wearing that on the website. It just adds weight that young people today do politics through t-shirts and not thinking. A nice shirt with a green tie would be better.

Whilst I don't agree with the content the site layout and design is pretty good. I think DublinDaze is just reacting on the line SF = Bad. Must thrash talk.

The layout's nice, but I'd look at changing the banner - it's a little MS Paint-ish.

Interestingly, in the poll: "What is the most pressing issue for Irish Youth today?"
    National unity: 24.7%
