Sinn Fein & the Household & Water Taxes Campaign.

As can be seen across the state the Household & Water Taxes is a huge issue, affecting everyone living in the state.

The opposition & anger among the people to this unjust tax is huge. This tax is basically to pay off the huge debts incurred by the greedy bankers, idiot Politicians & greedy developers. But there is huge opposition & will be further opposition, as can be seen from the huge numbers, attending the Campaign against Household & Water Taxes meets right across the state. Numbers ranging from 50 in small Dublin communities, to up to 500 in some large towns.

This campaign is basically challenging the Government, which is no mean feat. And as the Campaign gathers further momentum, it will likely face further treats and scaremongering.
Its hard enough to be challenging the state without having another political party, ie Sinn Fein who supposedly oppose this tax, actually undermining the campaign!

Sinn Fein have voted against the bill for the tax and spoke out against in Leinster House. However the campaign has moved on from the talking-shop of Leinster House, out into the communities where thousands, are vowing not to register, & not to pay. And this is where SF “opposition” to the tax ends.

Sinn Fein have Not called for non-registering or non-payment of this tax. And also Sinn Fein have not, become apart of, or active with the Campaign against Household & Water Taxes, unlike the array of left-wing groups.
Sinn Fein people is some insentiences have been scaremongering on behalf of the state, regarding the Class C fine, that may be imposed on Home-Owners who do not register or pay. I've heard this at some public meetings, where their scaremongering was very well shot-down. Other SF people have been encouraging people to register, where they live in a “Unfinished Estate” but not mentioning that they will be liable for the water tax by registering, or again liable when the “Unfinished Estate” becomes finished.

So how do Sinn Fein intend to oppose this tax?
Why not support the communities involved in the CAHWT?
Why not call for mass non-payment, considering some of their TD's have stated they will not pay? Why is it that SF people at some of the meetings (which they are Not active in) spread government fear & scaremongering on behalf of the state?
Why not support communities empowering themselves in a fight-back against austerity?

SF need to come clean on this issue. Either support the Campaign against Household & Water Taxes or they don't. Either they oppose the tax or they don't, there is no grey area on this issue.

Why are these charges so unjust?

    - Water: frugal usage needs to be incentivised, so a free allowance and paymemt thereafter (regardless of income) is entirely fair and efficient. What may be objectionable is that it is a precurser to privitisation, but that is not currently on the table.
    - household charges: too much of local government sources of income was derived from car tax and development levy, which incentivised out of town unsustainable developments. This tax is low (probably too low) and is charged at the same level for each household, which is fair given that all households use local authority services (with waivers for ghost estates and the state-dependent poor).

Are you running out of threads to start about Sinn Fein Rambo?

Are you registered for the household charge and will YOU pay it - your anti-shinnerness?

I know loads of shinners who are playing leading roles in the anti household charge campaign -as I'm sure you do too Rambo -and perhaps thats your problem.

So Rambo -are you and your party competing with SF for votes on the Left - Or are you afraid of them because they are showing you and your crowd up on the right?

Well said, but the argument, if you can call it that, will be general taxation pays for it already, when 100,s of thousands pay no income tax , no dirt, no capital gains tax, no stamp duty of any kind with vat being the only tax they pay, and many of the evade that by buying illegal fags and diesel.....

But wait entitlement is a part of our culture.....

SF seem to be leading the way down these parts.

Not sure what Rambo is talking about.
