They are not socialists in the classic sense. They have this weird mixture of nationalism and socialism.

The closest comparable party in another country is/was the Khmer Rouge. Zero internationalism and a potent mixture of xenophopia, central planning, and nationalism.

Oh dear. Such a military parade of cliche, stereotyping and bitterness.

They are certainly not a Hibernian Nationalist party although some people of that ilk were involved with them years ago.
I think you have it wrong and believe that nationalists are now the major supporters and drivers of Sf and we only have to listen to their MLAs and other politicians speaking regularly about 'the Nationalist people' this and 'as a proud Nationalist' that, and so on with even the word republican rarely used, much less socialism. When they stole the SDLP policies they became the SDLP in spirit. SF is now a party happy to be whatever they think will sell best at any given time. They even have Hibernians in the party and in elected roles nowadays when not so many years ago the very word 'Hibernian' was an insult to a member of SF or the wider provisional movement. (that did not apply to Hibs in the USA who were and, probably, are still, a of a different hue then home grown Hibs.
