I think the problem is going to be all the most vehemently anti-Sinn Féin posters are also on the right, so they can hardly drone on about about lack of red flags as a bad thing.

We need some bad tempered old stickies and a few SWP heads on here.

They are certainly not a Hibernian Nationalist party although some people of that ilk were involved with them years ago.

    No they're not, who's a millionaire?

The more centrist they get the more electable they become, that's what it takes to become a player in Irish politics and they will eventually become the big beast in Irish politics. Might take them 20 years to do it, but they'll do it, the long game is their goal.

We are told their goal is a “32-County Socialist Republic” however the word Socialism is never used in their press or activity. The closest thing I’ve heard to Socialism is “Building an Ireland of Equals”. Which is basically a hollow cliché. I have seen their youth wing use the odd image of Connolly or Che Guevara, but again who doesn’t and again it’s hollow without any Socialist content.

Is a case that they use Opportunism Socialism just to get a few left-wing votes, new youth members or to keep any remaining Socialists in Sinn Fein happy? Romantic Socialism? Or similar to the time Bertie Ahern saying he was a Socialist!

My own opinion is they are not Socialists, but sure maybe I will be proven wrong, maybe proven correct…..
The average member of Sinn Fein would not know what socialism was if it was a train that hit them. Sinn Fein is a neoliberal party in nationalist /socialist clothing

The leadership is very rich as are its entire ruling class.

Sinn Fein is a neoliberal party. There period in power in Northern Ireland proves that. A lot of people in Derry have actually been suprised by Sinn Fein in power.

The Che Chevara logo is perfect for Sinn fein. He was a hypocrite who claimed to support minorities. The first thing Che and Castro did in Cuba upon getting power was jail or kill every effiminate man, wether homosexual or not. Thing is Che was supposed to be into man on man. He did the same in latin America. Interestingly Castro has since apologised for that. I have noticed a lack of Castro T shirts since that.

I would say they are as Socialist as the Labour party. Just waiting on their opportunity in government to abondon the Irish people to the madness of the capitalist system.
