The basis for Irish Nationalism, the version almost every Irish person would support prior to the 'hijacking' of Irish Nationalism by Sinn Fein can be summarised as follows:
The will of the people is paramount in terms of self-determination, where there no historical title to a territory a neighbouring country cannot simply absorb its neighbour against the will of its people and that smaller countries may require the support of larger countries when attempting to fend off the 'claws' of a large neighbour - as we saw historically with French and Spanish support for Irish self determination.
What then of the people of the Falklands and the territorial dispute.
Considering that almost the entire region has been settled and ruled by european immigrants since the 1500's, that the various immigrant nationalities followed their own paths of self determination, why then would Sinn Fein and their supporters not respect the right of the Falkland Islanders to self determination and their right not to be taken over by a larger neighbour simply because they are seen as insignificant.
Perplexing to say the least.
