Adams shows ignorance of Dail rules

Spotted on the RTE website, that Adams has already broken a rule of the Oireachtas. He, and several other Shinner colleagues were wearing the Easter Lily.

Emblems such as the lily/poppy are sometimes contentious. For that reason, wisely, all emblems are excluded from the Houses of the Oirechtas. I assume this matter will be followed up with the same gusto by the Clerk of the Dail as when Gordon Wilson wore a poppy in the Senate and was forced to remove it.

The Sinn Féin TDs have been wearing their lilies into the chamber for a couple years now. Do try to keep up.

I was surprised by this as well. As I understood it, all emblems/badges and so forth were banned.

Seems like a fair rule, because where would you draw the line?

I assume you'll all be as tolerant when people start wearing poppies into the chamber?

We have, of course, nothing more important to be thinking about than the fact that some politician wore an inappropriate slip of paper in his lapel.

Gordon Wilson, as in Maria Wilsons father? Would have taken some callous git to get him to remove that poppy.
