Adams himself makes a virtue of giving the impression that he lives on the average industrial wage, if as many claim he has an other income stream from his writing to supplement his standard of living, it's disingenuous to say the least for him to claim he's living on the average industrial wage.

My understanding -

Adams takes the AIW from SF but as has been mentioned above he has made millions from books etc.

The same applies to Mary Lou McDonald - her husband owns a very profitable management company that MLMcD was a partner in.

Arthur Morgan is a partner in the family fish exporting business.

There is a big difference between taking the AIW from Sinn Fein and actually living on the AIW - for that you have to look at Joe Higgins of the Socialist Party.

Just spotted El Matadors comment about McGuiness et al. I understand that McGuinness lives in a modest house in the Bogside which is more than can be said for El Mat. Clearly those on the SDLP payroll are not satisfied with drawing an industrial wage.

Again on Drivetime (Radio 1), Gerry Adams pontificates about how he and his colleagues are paid the average industrial wage. So what?

Is he suggesting that everyone should be paid the same salary?

If so, if he ever has to go for heart-surgery, he won't mind if the hospital plumber performs the operation?

And as stated elsewhere, he earns cash from his writings? Whats the problem? He earns extra cash from this on top of his salary?

This is not at odds with his calls for fairer wages - if he won the cash on the lotto should he give it back?

All I hear is a load of pathetic little ar*eholes whining about Gerry because they know SF is probably going to wield a lot of power in the next few weeks.

And it kills some people. (Awaits the usual - well it killed some people for real......blah, blah, blah.....)

At least he isnt taking bribes from friends in the building industry to do favours for them and telling blatant lies about it?
