Do the AOH really exist in the real world...I always thought that secret societies such as the AOH had more in common with the Orange order....Surely they are to be seen but not heard..

Well then, the membership need to have a chat with Gerry and ask, 'What the hell is going on here, Gerry?'

Gerry Adams makes right decision to speak at Boston all-male dinner | Periscope | IrishCentral

The above article explains the issue - Niall O'Dowd is highly respected.

    Thanks for the link.

However, it didn't explain why Gerry Adams spoke at an all-male dinner.

It puts forward a motivation but it doesn't explain the apparent clash with party policy. Nor does it touch on his attendance at a parade where gays are banned. However, I'm not going to suggest that Adams has turned into a homophobic misogynist on the basis of these two incidents.

I suppose he does have to tread a tightrope when he's Stateside. Many of the Irish-Americans he deals with are cut from fairly conservative cloth and would dismiss as "political correctness gone mad**" any deference to the sensitivities of minorities - apart from those of Irish-Americans, of course.

Yes and don't forget that they can be approached for funding-so best to tread carefully.

Yet they support Castro, HAMAS and the PA all of whom persecute gays.
