'Well we are not doing the best' - you are joking me Liberal.

You are on here defending the basket case economy of Europe -and one that was raped and slaughtered by a corrupt and inept political and business class.

We are all part of the one family on this island. Just because one member of the family was taken from us in a quarrel and needs a bit of TLC before rejoining the family, is no reason for others to reject it and disown it.

Its like blaming a rape victim for giving sex to its attacker - but using economic arguments /excuses instead- ones that dont ad up when the kettle is calling the pot black!

Oh for God's sake, more emotional claptrap. I've told you already, I'm not basing a decision to support the largest economic, social and financial change in the history of the state on emotion. You're clearly unable to provide empirical evidence in suppose of supposed 'pros'.

Also, we're not the basket case of Europe. That's just not true.

Stop the denial Liberal if you want to be taken seriously.

We are a basket case and if all the pain and sacrifices that people endured was not because we have a fecked up ecomomy with off the wall debts, what was it for?

Are you saying this is all normal? Are you saying its right, and I suppose you'l tell me it was bound to happen - comes in cycles and all that -that it wasnt due to greed, corruption or imcompatience bla bla bla.

On the point of emotional clap trap Liberal -do you say that to everyone who holds a particular opinion that you dont agree with?

I would have thought a decision to support or withold support for something based on the principal of how will benefit me financially is itself emotional. Selfish -greedy -me Feinism but still emotiontional.

The notion of looking after one self -number 1 is probaly one of the gratest and most commongly excercised emotions. Personally -I prefer the emotion of Sinn Fein to Me Fein!

i very much doubt we'll see such a report, at least not one sponsored by those whom want a UI but are smart enough to understand that such a detailed report would show the massive costs and impact it would have on the economy of the RoI for many years...

perhaps and just perhaps we may see something along those lines if and when the UK and EU were willing to contribute to the costs associated with transfer of power from London to Dublin, but i don't see them doing so. the UK as that would contradict their position on NI and the EU as it would be deemed interfering with the internal activities of a sovereign member.

only if the UK and Ireland were to jointly approach the EU could such a thing be possible, even at that there's probably a lot less in the pot with the latest entrants soaking up much of the social and structural funding available

    !
No, I say it to people who can't actually argue their proposition on the basis of hard facts. Be they, economic or social and does on the emotional basis "We're all Family yadda yadda".

Anyway, I'm not too concerned, because allthough "Uh ah up the RA" and singing we're on the one Road is probably enough to convince the majority of dribbiling imbiciles in this state, if this is the level of hard analysis that's being give to a UI by its proponents, you'll never convince enough unionists or soft nationalists in the North to bring a UI about.

Gerry McGeough has described the Sinn Fein leadership as "vermin" who are supporting British "scum" in Ireland. They would probably be wise not to reply, but McGeough raises a good point: why is he being singled out for prosecution and not others who are supporters of Sinn Fein.

Yes I too havnt heard any hard logic -and you are the only person to use the tern 'uh ah up the Ra' Liberal.

Seems you have an emotional hang up and steriotipical image of everyone who wants to see their country unitied, at peace and prosperous -but sure thats probably a utopian wonderland for dreamers.

I'm old enough to remember being told we'll never have peace in this country, we'll never see a united Germany, Well never see an end to apartheid and a black president in South Africa, We never an IRA ceasfire, never Republican and Unionist sitting down together, so on...............

I have a few years left in me yet and a couple of more dreams to realise! None of the dreams realised above were held back by ejits demanding hard facts first!

I guess there are others who dream differently - of protecting and maintaining this unequal, corrupt, basketcase -sham republic. God help us!
