That was a very interesting, and a very well made production.. .

But.. it also pointed out subtley the elephant in the room as regards leadership in the party. Without a doubt, the most statesmanlike and most obvious political leader in the piece was Martin Mc Guinness, who actually has the most important political position in the party. Mary Lou stood out as the face of SF in the 26 counties, which is also recognised by most people with any political interest

And Gerry looks too much like a spare wheel at this stage

Getting herself elected as an MEP wasn't a bad accomplishment either

    A few things to note

-statesman/womanike emphasis on Sinn Féin as a party of experience
-commendable focus on helping those struggling to make ends meet
-good to see Mary Lou prominent in the broadcast
    -excellent production values.
"statesman/womanike emphasis" In the name of god, what does that mean?

    She got herslf elected?

    Not how I rember it.

2004 saw the peace process vote at its highest and this paid off for sinn fein.

Across dublin they had 14 Local councillors elected and an MEP.

This was of course on the back of the peace swing to SF but also on the back of an extremly efficent Dublin Sinn Fein Machine, and long hours by many activists across Dublin.

The leadership of DSF from then, have nearly all parted ways with sf now along with countless key activists across dublin.

The mass of resignations since then is one of the many reasons why we have seen sinn fein fall from grace in the capitial.

But back to my main point to say Mary Lou got here self elected in 2004 is quite frankly, delusional.

You are welcome, i expect you are going to keep a vigilant eye on proceeding over the weekend, I presume the reason that you have not mentioned Mr Adams already is that it may interfere with a fair trial,

I believe she FAILED to get elected last time, therefore is she not an unelected political failure?

I think the broadcase shows a maturing party, with a much more statespersonlike tone and feel. I agree that Martin McGuinness projects a very statesmanlike image and he carries a responsible political leadership role as chief executive of the six county Executive. But Mary Lou projected a stateswomanlike image too, as you say the face of the party in the 26 counties.

A very good broadcast, well made, focusing on broad brush issues and helping those not able to make ends meet in the economic downturn.

The gas part about this thread -is we know all the shinner bashers here will be glued to the televised section of the ard fheis and not the premiership as one said -since they will not clash with each other.

As for the statement about only party members and supporters tuning in -sure isnt that true of every party!

As the Dublin constituency was redesignated from a 4 to a 3 seater, Mary Lou's seat was effectively removed by EU authorities requiring Ireland to have less representation.
