Sinn Féin- the only party to gain in support in Business Post/Red C Poll of 27/02

Despite what you might read on other threads , Sinn Féin are the only party to see their support increase in the latest Red C poll published in today's Sunday Business Post-
Poll: Nearly half want Greens to leave Govt | IOL

Although polls usually underestimate support for SF, and the jump is well within the margin of error, it's probably worth noting here as it shows the party is perhaps doing something right.

They need to begin talks with FG and sort out their differences as both parties will gain if they are seen to be moving away old civil war politics

As an ex party member, and one who wishes no ill on the party as it is still full of old friends and relatives, I have to say that this is a pretty optimistic reading of the Red C poll.

    1. The rise was 1% which is margin of error territory and could just as easily have been a 1% loss, without making a whit of difference to the real standing of SF

    2. Your contention that SF are usually under estimated in the polls is wrong. Historically in fact, they have been over estimated in polls, with actual polling results being around 7% for the past 4 or 5 elections (notwithstanding higher polling figures in stronger areas around the border counties and in strongholds like Kerry)

    3. The only thing the poll showed, is a complete becalming of Irish political standings. In effect, no one moved in this poll.

    WOW!

PSF are in the doldrums down here and have been for years.

Their open support for Mass Immigration, opposition to the Citizens Referendum (Yes 79% - No 21%) and their turning up in support of the bogus asylum seekers outside St Patricks Cathedral

    - have cost them dear with the Irish Workers.

Thankfully their day will never come.

It was a loss of 1% for Sinn Féin, from 9% in Jan to 8% in Feb.

The problem is that many in FG define themselves by civil war politics, it is the only thing they have. Are they going to define themselves by there record in Govt., what record, they haven't been in long enough.

The past is too safe a place for many in FG, look at Enda on the LLS, Garrett backing Eoin Ryan, people like SMP (even though many FG posters go out of the way to distance themselves from him), they are still a significant grouping in FG. They have been allowed to hold the party back for most of its history, that will not change.

As an ex SF member, that is unfortunately very true.

I seen it reported on the news last night as a rise of 1%, from 8% to 9%. But in the wider scheme of things, it doesn't matter. It's within the margin of error so it can be as good as discounted either way

It's hard to believe that SF havent even bothered to try and make hay on the sudden hatred of capitalism with half the electorate.

What the hell are they at?
