so its ok for SF to have a bias towards working class people regardless of whether they are the best candidates or not ? best get rid of MLM then as well as Arthur Morgan surely ? neither of these two are even vaguely working class, in fact i don't think any of SF's 4 TD's would count as working class

To be honest I stopped caring about PSF after the Provos surrendured guns and other weaponary paid for with money given them to secure Irish Freedom and started hating them after Martin Mc Guiness called Irish rebels traitors for killing members of the occupation forces...

But other classes are either potential or actual enemnies so yes....I would only join a party which had a bias towards my class and a suspicion of other ones.

any other criteria required ? catholic only, whites, irish only, no immigrants ? women ?
once you start excluding and biasing against others then your on the slippery slope to extremism

When the people leaving are such a diverse bunch, and the common factor is SF then the problem lies more than likely with SF not them.
Thus my comments on the broad church that was SF in Dublin. What held all of these people under one roof, was it the belief and adherence to armed struggle?

Some people on this thread have argued that SF have moved too far away from its traditional position and support base. According to this view the party has been used by careerists and Johnny come latelys in order to advance personal positions.
Yet others have argued that SF need to adopt a much more realistic (in their terms) approach to policies and prospective candidates. This argument is that SF have to go through a fundamental change in order to attract talented new blood.

I've quoted those recommendations and given my own brief analysis as an outsider looking in on a post entitled Sinn Féin problems in Dublin
I read the document and to be honest there is little in it that is particularly earth shattering. The points on whether to hibernate cumanns and set sights on 5 constituencies etc are points I would be very much against.

I would have thought the allegations that unqualified staff are being recruited without public advertisement, and that the national officer board needs to be challenged, would be of some interest.

That said, I just tried to provide the information - it's entirely up to SF members to decide what they make of it - I would have thought it worthy of debate at least.
