he should hand his seat back to the party so that one of his former comrades can take up the position.

After all - he was elected on a SF platform.
Ah yes, No.44's team of smear merchants and internet agitators have decided to weigh in! New Jewell, Wjeilis and yourself: you can tell you're party apparatchiks because you have such low post counts!

I hate Labour. I hate turncoats. Still, Sinn Féin have brought all this upon themselves. The atmosphere in that organization is quite oppressive: dissent is not tolerated and the views of the Dear Leader and his acolytes are to be strictly adhered to at all times. A small coterie of party hacks and supporters of the Adams cult following, not limited to but including; Robbie S., C. Ní Dhonnabháin, W. Lyons, Daithí Doolan and Aenghus Ó Snodaigh and new chair, Eoin Ó Broin call the shots i.e. tell the councilors what to think. It's intolerable, really, especially as their tactics are utter rubbish. If Forde continued to oppose the backroom staff they simply would have ensured he wasn't re-selected. Even if his cumann was 100% behind him (for all we know, perhaps they were), the Dublin Comhairle can overrule them and impose a candidate (disband a cumann, if necessary). This extreme democratic centralism was a key bone of contention between the IRA, Republicans and the odious Stickies. Yet again, another similarity between the Workers' Party and the modern Sinn Féin. What happened to the W.P., eh?

    Opportunist

That said: I believe Forde has the air of an opportunist to be honest. If principled opposition to the dictatorship that is Dublin S.F. is his true motive, perhaps he and the other former councilors (Louise Minihan and Christy Burke) could've formed their own new party? Instead he chose Labour: half a party, but one in which he potentially has a future. See the difference?

    It has been asked before:
    • How have his constituents taken it?

How has his cumann taken the news? Did he take anyone with him?

Arrant nonsense. As Eoin has stated, Killian was in the wrong party simple as that.

Simple question Gordon do you think that any of the main parties are not "run" by their head offices rightly or wrongly.

Its important to keep a consistent message rather than have members of parties going solo. Its that team-based leadership-led campaigning-oriented aspect of Sinn Féin which has been a success - in each and every like for like 26 county election since the 1980s SF has either increased vote share or maintained its number of representatives a record no other party can boast of for such a sustained period.

Killian is supposed to be on the panel for Sam Smyth's show on TodayFM, but he doesn't appear to have showed up (yet).

Says he is joining the Labour Party.

Says he didn't have a problem with SF and the "killing" but is leaving because they are "no hopers".

Well he didn't say that superman, don't be telling porkies, he's trying to NOT say it because Labour will want a little show for the old media tomorrow.

But it's happening, senior Labour people have confirmed it to P.ie.
