There was no background information nor indeed any questioning of Dear Leader merely his tired and despicable portrayal of Gerry as the victim.
I saw that and found it absolutely astonishing. Having seen it only once ( I believe it will be on BBC website ), I can't recall any questions being asked during the " interview ". ( Am open to correction there ) . It was a series of statements in which Adams went unchallenged as he resolutely refused to face up to the issues thrown up by the Sunday Tribune and instead complained about a smear campaign in the media and seemed to threaten just about anybody with legal action. A shameful exercise by the BBC.

BBC do an easy interview with Adams without asking hard questions = British protection.

Tribune do an easy interview of victims, printing unverified claims and quotes = beacon of investigative journalism.

BBC broadcast a platform for Adams without any questions and the Tribune article was backed up with medical and social services documentation.

The Tribune is an independent newspaper and the BBC is the state broadcasting body. You of course are 'not a shinner.'

No I'm not. I saw the interview, I thought it was basically giving the guy a podium to preach from as opposed to asking any of the outstanding pressing questions. Poor stuff from the BBC. That doesn't excuse the Tribune from printing unattributed, unchecked quotes and releasing off the record information.

    Sickening shinner spin.

The shinner propaganda machine is in full spin in Provda / APRN this week:

The women who have recently spoken out about abuse they suffered in their childhood or adolescence acted courageously and deserve to be fully supported as they seek justice and closure.
Sections of the media, however, have sought to use these allegations to demonise republican communities in the North
, and Sinn Féin and Gerry Adams in particular, by claiming that there was a culture of ‘cover-up’ in cases of abuse and rape that was sanctioned by republican leaders.

This is a vomit inducing twist that attempts to transfer leadership guilt to the entire community and play upon the sense of victimhood and persecution caused by British oppression. Cynical, self-serving and deceitful manipulation.

The article then goes into a spiel trying to rationalise and Gerry Adams's behaviour in the 22 years since he learned of his brother Liam. Members should proceed with caution as it is a propaganda bokefest.

Our levels of tolerence are astounding. The whole affair reeks of another SF cover up.

Mary Lou was fairly bad alright. It was a typical ML performance - good enough at speaking itself, confident, but not a whole lot to say when you speep away the bluster. She was outraged at the suggestion that SF would pressurise one of the alleged victims. Breen was okay, kept calm anyway, and seemed pretty unshaken by all the litigation threats - it seems like they are fairly confident with their story. If they had doubts, think their Solicitors would be telling them to reel their heads in by now, but no sign of that in today's interview.

When Breen pointed out that the Cahill lady knew Mary Lou well and had asked Breen to publicly tell Mary Lou that she (ms Cahill) would be happy to meet Mary Lou to tell her the exact nature of the way Sinn Fein and the IRA treated her complaints about the attacks on her by an IRZA man Mary Lou's bluster became more apparent.
