Was anyone watching "The week in Politics" tonight? Ian Óg Paisley said his party didnt care about any March deadline and would not consider sharing power with PSF until they had shown to the satisfaction of the DUP that they were now good British subjects who reported all activity in Nationalist areas to the "police" and helped the "police" in every way. Pat Doherty said that PSF wouldnt actually be supporting the RUC/PSNI until such time as the assembly was up and running and "policing" powers devolved. Another deadlock? Going on form, I for one have little doubt who will blink first and back down.
The best was at the end when Pat told us all, with a smile on his face which let everyone know he didnt believe what he was saying himself, that all this process was leading to a re-unified Ireland. Ian Óg nearly died laughing at the idea that joining the British police and recognising British law was a step towards Irish Unity. I have been laughing at that idea for some time myself.
