Republican Sinn Féin picket at RDS

Members of Republican Sinn Féin held a picket outside the RDS today against British Policing in Ireland and also to highlight the conditions of the prisoners in Maghaberry prison.

Activists urged Provisional Sinn Féin delegates to consider the implications of what their party was about to endorse. Provisional Sinn Féin is about to support the British police force in Ireland, not just in the name of their party, but on behalf of the nationalist community in the north and what is more in the name of Irish Republicanism. It is essential for people to be informed that Provisional Sinn Féin does not speak on behalf of Irish Republicanism and that Irish Republicanism is still well and alive.

While Provisional Sinn Fein attempts to subvert the Republic in the name of the Republic it is the duty of Republicans who have a clear head and who stand by their principles to highlight this hypocrisy and present the Republican alternative to the people.

I hope after today some people will have a clearer perspective of how things stand.

Sinn Féin represents the Nationalist community in the 6 counties, as well as a support base in the south. RSF represent nobody but themselves, and even that support is shrinking.

And Fianna Fáil represent an even larger support base than your boyos throughout Ireland. So what? What your point Padraic?

Simple, Nobody cares what RSF say or do, do you think any delegate is going to change how they vote because RSF decide to hold a picket today or issue a statement on the issue.

Yes I honestly believe that there are people in your party who, if presented with a reasoned argument, will do the right thing. Of course it was always a foregone conclusion as to how the vote would go, but its never a bad thing to poke someone's conscience.

But the main reason for the picket was, as I have outlined above, to show the Irish public that your people do not represent the Republic and that there still a Republican Movement. Unlikely the RTE will even give us coverage but one has to do the best one can.

Indyjoe, if any of us want to be presented with a reasoned agruement, then RSF is the last place we would look to. Also your forgetting that the delegates represent their cumann, cuige etc, and they will already have debated the issues at that level, and therefore the delegates will be voting as to the decision reached by the vote of those they represent.

What do you regard as Republican?
Where is the boundary line of Republicanism that Fianna Fáil have crossed but Provisional Sinn Féin have not?

    I never mentioned SF mate.

FF claim to be republican, that's all they do - claim, no action just false claims.

The recent "collusion" findings being a perfect example.
