Sinn Féin in power - A question for FF, FG, Lab, Greens, PDs

Would you like your party to share power with them?

If not, why and when would you be willing?

    No!!

At least 15 years; their economic policies would be malignant to the future development of Ireland

I wouldn't support coalition with SF for three reasons.

As they are primarily a Northern Irish party, it may prejudice the ability of the Irish government in dealing with unionist parties during negotiaitions on the GFA. Nothing should be allowed to interfere with the attempts to bring peace to the island.

Secondly, their Marxist economic policies are not ones I could support.

Thirdly, the quality of their elected representives in the ROI are abyssmal and would add nothing to the the quality of government.

In time, I hope pints one and three will cease to be an issue.

The second issue will probably remain and will be a reason for SF's continued self-exclusion from government.

The further progress of SF in the south depends on a number of outcomes
*they must provide good goverance in the North-acting as an advocate for their community in a devolved administration but compramising with the other side where neccessary. Accepting the legitimacy of the PSNI is a good indicator that they will work to this end.
    * they must get rid of the smell of sulphur-time will take care of this -Gerry & Martin will pass on in the medium term. They willeventually disown Slab and the boys.
*they will ditch the left wing Cuban economic bull************************ and become social democrats. Watch for a camnpaign to drop corporate tax rates up north and the quiet burying of the call to raise taxes down here.

the young left ing tyros will have grown old by then and piss of to whatever left wing ginger group is trolling around hawking the left wing ************************e.

Who knows but in the 2010 GE down here, they might form part of a grand coalition with FG, LAb, Pds and Greens to deny Mary Hanifin a 2nd term, just as their predecessors in C na P did in 1948.

it should be the main priority of all political parties to prevent sinn fein from ever having a seat in the dail.

    say no to sinn fein.

every ssinn fein poster should have a warning lable like cigerates.

    Dear Don,

The sort of ignorant anachronistic political thought displayed in posts like this, is part of the reason that SF has pretty much the same chance of being in Government as FG.. about 20-30% I'd say.

The thought of SF controlling the Irish economy makes me feel ill.

Once normality is achieved in northern politics I can see SF splitting along regular political lines or some of their members moving to normal parties.

Someday, Labour, the GP and SF will form an electoral pact, and we'll have a real election.
The only way to change the world is to win elections.
