Its seems to me that the older and greyer Gerry Adams gets the more like a West Belfast Uncle Tom he sounds. I guess as middle age sets in the urge for a quiet and prosperous life is hard to resist. The glamour of the British constitutional scene has always been very attractive to ageing Irish politicians. This is not always the case, of course, Dan Keating, for example, at 104 years of age is as hard, keen and determined as he was when he joined the Republican Movement 90 years ago. But Gerry and his middle aged co-evils have been getting softer and softer as they get used to the flashing lights of the cameras and the grand chambers of power. Seems the greyer they get the more their grey matter turns to muck.
Will this Special Ard Fheis not give a younger generation in PSF the opportunity to kick out the current Uncle Tom Misleadership? Has Gerry and Martin and their flunkys, lackys, yes men and hangers on not done enough damage to Irish Republicanism? Who is so desperate to get Stormont up and running anyway? Certainly not the unionists. Most certainly not the ordinary nationalist people, to whom it will make no difference at all - they will still be ruled by the Brits, but with an extra layer of lackys. No, the only ones who really are desperate for Stormont is those middle aged Uncle Toms in the PSF Misleadership who are tired and bored of Republicanism and want to cash in on their position.
Are there any young and energetic Republicans in PSF who have the courage to make this Special Ard Fheis a "centre of struggle" and boot out these tired old flunkies and Uncle Toms?
