She's providing cover for mass rape and murder. Possible genocide even.

Get back on topic. This is the wrong place for your misguided attacks on Angela Merkel ...

I see you think mass rape and murder is an appropriate occasion for hilarity.

The lack of certain information out of there, points towards the need for more sophisticated conflict zone reporting

Special forces and clandestine services techniques are sometimes needed to get where the news is... don't expect Irish journalists to try...

Whereas for you it is apparently an occasion for joyless and ultimately ineffectual pontificating ...

What exactly is your problem here ?
If your read the report cited in the OP you might have seen this:
"The Rohingya, who number about one million, are seen by many of Myanmar's Buddhist majority as illegal migrants from Bangladesh."

So there appears to be a perceived problem with "illegal migrants" and the Burmese Army is apparently dealing with this in their own traditional manner which I suspect falls short of the standards expected by South County Dublin liberals ...

I can accept that the Burmese Army's methods for dealing with the perceived problem do not meet with your approval.

But what puzzles me is that you seem to think that you can realistically do something about it ...

She has no direct control over the military but, unlike many leaders faced with internal divisions, she has the ready ear of the world's media. Why is she not using that power, as she used it very adeptly in the past?

This is simply untrue - the Rohingya arrived to Myanmar perfectly legally in the 19th century and during the 2nd world war. The law at the time was British, and the British encouraged the migration. There are parallels here with the Unionist population in Ulster.

There's no genocide happening. That's all in the mind of an overexcited media.

It's just a counter terrorism a operation that has been a bit too rough. It must be remembered that there is bad blood between the Burmese and the Rohingyas on account of the latters very real attempt at genocide.
