Final arrangements to wind up PDs are happening today!!!

Final arrangements to wind up PDs - The Irish Times - Thu, Jul 23, 2009

Final arrangements are being made to wind up the Progressive Democrats, with the national exectuive due to meet today.

The decision to disband the party after 23 years in existence was taken last November, after senior party members revealed they felt the party had no viable future.

Once the party is formally delisted as a political party, its TDs - Ms Harney and Noel Grealish - will sit as Independents, as will Senator Fiona O'Malley in the Seanad.

    Good riddance!

The PDs in their prime 1987-2003 are what we need at the moment. Their final years are to be criticised for their reticence to stop Bertie and Cowen on their spending binge.

I would like a party with a low tax, low spend model to enter the fray right now.

That's nice, just in advance of formal arrangements being made to wind up the Irish Republic that their absurd cult ideology helped send into the economic abyss...
