Former PDs have a field day in the Locals

Former PD candidates, and activists have had somewhat of a purple patch today. Its quite suprising, but it highlights that the PDs did have the talent internally.

    Winners and Potential Winners Include
    Declan McDonnell (Galway)
    Terry O Flaherty (Galway)
    Tom Welby (Galway)
    Jim Cuddy (Galway)
    Barry Saul (Stillorgan)
    Victor Boyhan (Blackrock)
Mary Mitchell O Conner (Dun Laoghaire)
    Mag Murray (Castleknock)
    Cait Keane (Rathfarnham)
    Serena Campbell (Meath)
    David Boyle (Cork)
    Mae Sexton (Longford)
    Brendan Gilmore (Lonfgford)
    Peter Merrigan (Cork)
    Rose Brennan (Limerick)
    Bridget Teefey (Limerick)
    Leonard Hatrick (Louth)

There are more, and I shall update the list as the evening pushes on

It just shows that your candidates were not the problem.

It was your slavish servitude to Fianna Fail.

The PDs were, perhaps, a viable party. Had they deleted Harney and kicked her back to FF, then they may have had a chance. As for McDowell - it was a case of the PDs becoming little more than a Deefer residents committee. The problem was that they had that FF parasite Harney running the show for FF's benefit and that puppet Cannon as "leader". Perhaps if the PDs had proper leadership rather than that shower of gombeen mediocrity, then they might have overtaken FG. But the demise of the PDs can be traced back to that typical FF gombeen decision of O'Malley to hand over the leadership to that other FF gombeen Harney.

Yes they are definitely doing well, but you also have acknowledge that many of them are now members of other political parties. This I believe in some cases has assisted in their success.

Also look at their success comparatively to the performance of green candidates

Just a shame some of them have migrated to other parties...

do you think their performance could lead to a platform for thee setting up of a new liberal economic party?

Things were dismal when they were established in 1985 and it can be argued that things are worse now.

Paul McCauliffe has also done well as one of three FF candidates. Depending on Transfers, another former PD activists, candidate, and HQ employee may be on his way to the council. But as its FF I wouldnt hold one's breath
