Party faces nightmare of losing half its Dail seats

THE PDs face the nightmare prospect of losing half of their eight Dail seats in next year's general election. The party's first electoral priority is to hold on to its existing seats, but it is also currently trying to head-hunt prominent candidates to bolster its team. Of its eight TDs, Tanaiste Mary Harney in Dublin Mid West, Justice Minister Michael McDowell in Dublin South East and Liz O'Donnell in Dublin South are likely to hang on. But the other five TDs are all in the firing line. - Irish Independent

If the PDs end up with 4 seats, I don't think that would classify as a nightmare result. That's what they had in 1997, and they did pretty well out of it. A nightmare result would be 2 seats, which is a possibility, but I think they will do better than that

I couldn't care less. They are a boil on the arse of Irish politics. Everyone hates them, but because of the level of discomfort they cause, you can't ignore them.

    They'll be no loss

I would be wary of writing off the PDs. People did that at the last election and look what happened. They won't stay on 8, but 6 could be achievable.

I'd say the same thing about SF.

I think the PDs could even lose more then half their seats and end up with just the two.

I know you would Rocky, I'd expect nothing less of you.

When the PD's are gone, may FG re-start their slide into electoral oblivion.

The PDs will definitely lose seats but I dont think they will do as bad as many people think. I think they will hold 5 - 6 seats. Hope I'm wrong, but I think they will fare better than many think

I would classify it as a nightmare result. Zero seats would be a great result!

Maybe then this party will wise up and get rid of Harney for gross neglect of the Health Service (so as to privatise as much of it as possible in the future) and McDowell for his racism (citizenship in this country was once based on a geographical basis and now it is based on parental rights to citizenship - PD's going for the KKK vote ) and disgraceful use of Dáil privilege to defame other citizens in this country.

How's that going to happen Rock? When the PDs are got we will rightly take back all the votes they have taken off and we may even rise to our pre-1985 level once again.
