    it gets more complex..,

As far as I am aware she supported The Church/State indemnity deal that
had been worked out by Michael Woods TD, this had been written up
without the full knowledge of the then A.G (Mr Michael Mc Dowell)....

She supported FF and their governmental perspective above and beyond
any ability of her own political party to evolve-thus, yes, it is c-h-a-n-g-e.

The word albatros comes to mind. it is hard for a new PD party to evolve with
that appalling history on health, no?

She managed to feck up two political parties, thats some days work.

Yes but wasnt one of the founding reasons for the PD was the people who left or where thrown out by Haughey from FF?
The dogs on the street knew about Haughey before the relevations came out and Harney said something that pretty much guarenteed that Haughey could never be touched for it?
Either she was really stupid or doing her old mate a favour. Is that the FF way?

As for Ahern. GBP Lodgements that he won on the horses? After he claimed that it was political for personal use, His dead mother gave it to him, it was a digout from mates.. sorry ive lost track of the excuses.... and these were from him. No one else.

And lets not even go into McDowells Duke of Edinbourghs routine last year.

Not unexpected. The PD economic ideology has run its course and with nothing to offer, there is no point in them continuing. This was a party which didn't like getting its hands dirty with the grassroots graft and relied on "celebrity"-style politics to keep it going. The ultimate failure is, in my opinion, not so much to do with McDowell's procrastination and lousy decision-making regarding Ahern which illustrated the party's moral bankruptcy but the 13 directionless years and poor leadership under Harney. At the end of the day, though, no real loss.

    LOL... and most definately agreed.

As for the PDs... well, it's a shame they promised so much but delivered so little. Like opening a box of Cadbury milktray, to find nothing but rat faeces inside, the PDs were not just dissappointing, but vile and horrendous in their approach to government, and I am most glad to find them thrown into the dustbin of rejected political parties...

It would give a boost to Cowens fortunes if he got rid of Harney straight away.

It would also be a great boost to the Irish people who need a bit of good news.

    How about it Brian ?

The PDs are gone and the government is being run be economic dumb-dumb FF'ers and the tax and spend Greens. Hold onto your wallets/purses folks - you are about to be taxed up the ying-yang in 2009 - just at the moment the economy tanks.

Most of you deserve every bit of the pain you are about to endured - and the 'poor and underprivileged' won't see a penny of the extra tax take. Unless you are paid by the government you are about to get a lot poorer.

    Enjoy

Not too many excuses for opening the champagne in a recession, but I've had a bottle tonight.
Their demise is sad in a way, when they were launched they seemed to hold out considerable promise. I even voted for Geraldine Kennedy once.
